MONKEY BEACH & PANTAI KERACHUT BOAT SERVICE ( PRICE & INFO 2015 )

                                                            MONKEY BEACH

Teluk Duyung, known as Monkey Beach, is located in Penang National Park in the North-West corner of Penang Island.
So called because of the Crab-eating Macaque's that live around here, the beach is one of the nicest beaches in Penang Island, with a long stretch of white sandy beach that is good for swimming as it is not plagued by the jellyfish that can be found off many of the other beaches in Penang.
Teluk Duyung is a popular place to visit during weekends and public holidays, when many locals will come here for the day by boat to enjoy a picnic on the beach. Head here during the weekdays and it is much quieter.
                                                         PANTAI KERACHUT

Tucked away from the city's hustle and bustle, Pantai Kerachut is among the six beaches in the Penang National Park. The relatively untouched beach is mostly frequent by locals and famously known for its meromictic lake and turtle sanctuary.

                             Pantai Keracut meromictic Lake, Penang

meromictic lake has layers of water that do not intermix.[1] In ordinary, "holomicticlakes, at least once each year there is a physical mixing of the surface and the deep waters.[2] This mixing can be driven by wind, which creates waves and turbulence at the lake's surface, but wind is only effective at times of the year when the lake's deep waters are not much colder or warmer than its surface waters.

  1. monkey beach in penang is one of the most famous beach there is in Penang, Malaysia. If you're heading there, don't forget to head to muka head lighthouse for a short hike too! Then, finish off the trip with a relaxing sunset view at starbucks in batu ferringhi before heading out for dinner in georgetown!
